Think of it as TurboTax for IEPs. The same way TurboTax put professional-grade tax guidance in every family's hands, SENTINEL·IEP puts special education law knowledge in yours — right when you need it most.

Educational information only. Not a substitute for a licensed special education attorney.

The reality of IEP meetings

You walk in alone. They walk in with a team.

School districts come to IEP meetings with special education coordinators, administrators, and sometimes legal counsel. Most parents come with notes, worry, and a lot of love — but not the federal law memorized.

That knowledge gap is real. And districts, even well-intentioned ones, sometimes make statements that don't align with what IDEA actually requires. Most parents don't know it's happening.

SENTINEL·IEP closes that gap. Not just in the meeting — before, during, and after. A library of cited content so you understand what the law says. A meeting analyzer that flags issues in real time. A letters generator for when you need to put something in writing. A community of other parents sharing what they've seen.

What it does

More than a meeting recorder. A complete IEP toolkit.

SENTINEL·IEP is built around five things that, together, give you what advocates spend years learning: the law, real-time analysis, the documents to back you up, the community to learn from, and help when you need it.

📚

Knowledge Library

📂

👥

Community Reports

Community district reports

Anonymized accounts from other parents and advocates about how their districts have handled IEP meetings, refusals, and accommodations. Identifying information is stripped automatically. Patterns emerge.

🤖

AI Help Bot

Built-in help

Type a question — about the app, about your rights, about a procedure — and get an answer drawn from a curated help library and the Knowledge Library. Cited. With a fallback to a human when the bot can't help.

Plus: MDR Mode, medication tracker, time tracker (Advocate tier), multi-student profiles, session archive, hardware diagnostic.

For the meeting itself

Cloud-first when you have signal. Resilient when you don't.

SENTINEL·IEP is a connected app. The Knowledge Library, AI Help Bot, Letters generator, and Community Reports all need internet. But meeting analysis falls back to local processing if your school's WiFi craters — so a bad signal doesn't kill your meeting.

1

Before the meeting (at home, with WiFi)

Upload your child's IEP, evaluations, and any relevant letters. Browse the Knowledge Library for entries relevant to your situation. Run a full Case Analysis if you want a multi-model review of where you stand.

2

During the meeting

Open your laptop and press Start. SENTINEL listens, transcribes, and flags statements that may conflict with federal law. Your transcript is saved with every timestamp. If the WiFi drops, the analyzer keeps working locally.

3

After the meeting

Generate a follow-up letter (PWN request, FBA request, eligibility disagreement, state complaint) directly from your notes. Archive the session. Share what happened to Community Reports if you want others to learn from it.

"Promise me you'll always remember: you're braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think."

What you get

SENTINEL·IEP in detail

Most "IEP help" tools do one thing — a transcription app, a checklist, a forum. SENTINEL·IEP is built around the idea that a parent walking into a meeting needs five different kinds of help, and they need them connected.

📚

Knowledge Library

Cited reference library

37+ entries covering all 13 IDEA disability categories, the most-requested accommodations (extended time, separate setting, audiobooks, etc.), evidence-based interventions (structured literacy, MTSS, ABA), every IEP component, procedural rights (PWN, IEE, dispute resolution), and common situations (MDR, ESY, 504 vs IDEA).

Every entry cites its sources. Generated through a multi-AI agreement pipeline (GPT-4o + Gemini 2.5 + Claude Opus). Updated regularly.

🎙️

Live meeting analyzer

Live meeting dashboard

Captures meeting audio, transcribes it in real time, and runs each statement against federal special education requirements. Flags appear on your screen within seconds.

Flags include: PWN missing required elements, vague unmeasurable goals, refusal-of-evaluation issues, FAPE concerns, FERPA issues. Every flag is timestamped and saved.

✉️

Letters generator

Letters with federal citations

Turn a few form fields into a properly structured letter with the right federal citations. Categories include requesting things (eval, IEE, FBA, records), disagreeing with things (eval results, eligibility, placement), discipline and MDR, and formal escalation (state complaint, due process, mediation).

Output is a Word document you edit and send yourself. The app never sends anything on your behalf.

📂

Document Q&A & Case Analysis

Full case analysis

Ask "What does my child's IEP say about reading services?" and get an answer sourced from your actual documents. Run a full Case Analysis to get a multi-model review of where you stand on FAPE, LRE, goal quality, and procedural compliance.

👥

Community Reports

Community district reports

Anonymized accounts from other subscribers about how their districts have behaved. Automatic PII scrubbing plus two-model defamation moderation before anything publishes. You see region and district-size bucket only — never specific districts or names.

Useful for spotting patterns: which kinds of refusals are common, which approaches work.

A note on privacy

Your case documents stay on your computer.

Your child's IEP, evaluations, and recordings live on your laptop. The Knowledge Library and Community Reports are served from our backend, but they contain general content — not your data. When you use cloud-AI features (analyzer, document Q&A, help bot), only the text you submit is sent — never your raw audio, never your stored documents.

Full details: Privacy Policy.

How the AI works

Two ways to run the analysis — you choose.

We want to be upfront about this, because privacy is the whole point of SENTINEL·IEP. Either way, your child's records, documents, and recordings stay on your computer — we never receive them. What you're choosing is simply where the analysis runs.

☁️

Cloud mode — recommended, just works

Nothing extra to install. When you ask for analysis, the app sends only anonymized text to a cloud AI — names, contact info, and addresses are stripped out automatically first, and it can't be turned off. This keeps the app a small, fast download and keeps your subscription low, since we're not bundling a multi-gigabyte AI engine into every copy. Most people use this.

🔒

On-device mode — optional, fully offline

Prefer that not even anonymized text leaves your machine? Run the AI entirely on your own computer using Ollama — a free companion app you install once. SENTINEL configures it for you; the first time, it sets up a ~1 GB AI model while you're on WiFi. It's completely optional — you don't need it for the free trial or if you're comfortable with cloud analysis.

In short: you're never forced into anything, there's no hidden cost, and Ollama is free if you ever want it. We default to cloud because it's simpler for most families and it's how we keep the price affordable.

System requirements

Runs on most laptops made after 2018.

SENTINEL·IEP is designed to run on ordinary hardware. You don't need a gaming computer or anything special.

Recommended

Any Windows or Mac laptop with 8GB RAM or more, made in 2018 or later. If you choose the optional on-device (private) mode, a ~1GB AI model downloads once while you're on WiFi; in standard cloud mode there's no model to download. The first launch runs a hardware diagnostic and picks the best settings for your machine.

📡

Internet

You need internet to use the Knowledge Library, AI Help Bot, Letters generator, Community Reports, and the cloud-AI analyzer. If you've set up the free on-device mode (Ollama), the live meeting analyzer can also run locally — so it keeps working even if school WiFi drops mid-meeting.

🛡️

Hardware-smart

The first-launch diagnostic detects your laptop's CPU, RAM, GPU (if any), microphone, and FFmpeg install. It picks the best AI model for your hardware and tells you exactly what's wrong if something isn't right.

★ How the AI works & why it keeps your price low

Your child's records, documents, and recordings always stay on your computer — we never receive them. For analysis, the app sends only anonymized text to a cloud AI (names, contact info, and addresses stripped out first, automatically).

This is how we keep your subscription low. Bundling a full AI engine into every copy would mean a multi-gigabyte download and far higher running costs — costs that would land on your monthly price. Using shared cloud analysis instead keeps the app a small, fast download and lets us charge a fraction of what an advocate bills per hour.

Want the analysis to run entirely on your machine too, so not even anonymized text leaves? That optional on-device mode uses a free companion app called Ollama — a free download you install once, and SENTINEL sets it up for you. You don't need Ollama for the free trial, or if you're comfortable with cloud analysis and its built-in anonymization.
